Your assignment for this unit is to complete the following five
activities. Your completed scholarly activity should be at least two
pages in length.

Conduct a search on the Internet and/or CSU Online Library, and
identify the functions and purpose of the following operating systems
(OS): Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, iOS, Blackberry OS, and
Android. Identify the advantages and disadvantages of each.
Describe the file management system on your desktop or laptop
computer. In addition, either provide a screenshot or create a table
of your file structure to include files, folders, and subfolders.
Explain the process and programs used to backup both Windows and the Mac OS.
Explain the function and importance of each of the following system
utilities: disk cleanup utility, disk checking utility, and disk
defragmenter utility.
Discuss three common computer problems and the actions you would take
to troubleshoot the problems.

Your scholarly activity must be at least two pages in length,
double-spaced. You are required to use at least two outside sources,
one of which must come from the CSU Online Library. All sources used,
including the textbook, must be referenced; paraphrased and quoted
material must have accompanying APA citations

Open the “Identifying Social Style” inventory (Word document) by
clicking here (check attachment). Answer each question as to whether
you feel each item describes you, using the scale of 1 for Strongly
Disagree to 5 for Strongly Agree. On the second page of the form, use
the two charts to tally your scores. For example, if you marked a
question as 2 – Disagree, then write two points for that question in
the appropriate chart. The first chart determines your assertiveness
score and the second chart determines your responsiveness score.
Scores above 34 indicate high assertiveness or responsiveness. Scores
between 26 and 34 indicated moderate assertiveness. Scores below 26
indicate low assertiveness or responsiveness.
Using your scores as a jumping off point for the essay, begin your
essay by describing different ways of responding to others, including
what steps you would need to style flex.
Share your scores with a family member or friend. Evaluate his or her
perceptions in your essay. How did he or she consider the scores
accurate or not accurate? What perceptions or suggestions did he or
she have about your social style?
Describe how your social style affects your listening skills and how
you can improve as a listener. Describe how style flexing can assist
with communication effectiveness.

Your essay should be a minimum of three pages, not counting the title
or reference pages. Remember to use APA style with citations and
references from the textbook and other sources.

Describe the concept of organizational culture. Include how organizational culture can be used to effectively lead and what
factors can contribute to that culture.

Your response must be at least 200 words in length.

Present three of the five types of organizational power. Provide a description of each type, a real-life example or scenario of a person
with that power, as well as any potential abuses of that power.

Define four of the five leadership approaches. Give a real-life scenario or example for each approach.

Describe four of the eight nonverbal messages. Provide a real-life

This unit includes two assignments, which work together so you can
define communication, describe the communication principles, and the
major communication skill sets.

In this assignment, create a collage from pictures or drawings that
model the five key communication principles chart found on Figure 1.2
on page 11 of your textbook. The five communication principles include
Aware, Verbal, Nonverbal, Listen, and Adapt. Free resources for the
collage are available at Canva.com, Glogster.com, or Word Document.
You may also create your own images or pictures.

In the second part of your assignment, for each of the five
communication principles, provide a short written statement for each
principle and why it is important. Each statement should be 75 words
or less for a total of 375 words or less. In each statement, include a
real-life example (personal or professional) where you have used or
experienced that principle. Indicate which of the three communication
skills from the Figure 1.2 was, or was not, used successfully in your
real-life example.

In this final assignment, you will develop a paper that reviews some
of the main topics covered in the course. Compose an essay to address
the elements listed below.

Identify the components of an information system (IS) using the
five-component framework, and provide a brief summary of each.
Explain Porter’s five forces model.
Management IS (MIS) incorporate software and hardware technologies to
provide useful information for decision-making. Explain each of the
following IS, and use at least one example in each to support your
discussion:

 a collaboration information system,
 a database management system,
 a content management system,
 a knowledge management/expert system,
 a customer relationship management system,
 an enterprise resource planning system,
 a social media IS,
 a business intelligence/decision support system, and
 an enterprise IS.

Identify and discuss one technical and one human safeguard to protect
against IS security threats.
There are several processes that can be used to develop IS and
applications such as systems development life cycle (SDLC) and scrum
(agile development). Provide a brief description of SDLC and scrum,
and then discuss at least one similarity and one difference between
SDLC and scrum
Sum up your paper by discussing the importance of MIS.

Your paper must be at least three pages in length (not counting the
title and reference pages), and you must use at least two resources.
Be sure to cite all sources used in APA format, and format your essay
in APA style.

As a manager of an organization, you will often need to find ways to
cut costs. One way to cut costs is to outsource by hiring another
organization to perform the service. Consider the scenario below.

As a manager for the public outreach department, you realize that the
current system for managing outreach issues is outdated. You would
like to have a new outreach system developed using the Cloudera
platform to help manage big data. However, no one in the organization
has the expertise. You will have to outsource the project to save on
costs and avoid management problems. Two companies have sent in a
bid—one from Vancouver, Canada, and one from Mumbai, India. The bid
from India was slightly lower than the bid from Canada. Compose a
response that includes the elements listed below.

Define what is meant by outsourcing.
Explain how Peter Drucker’s statement (covered in the textbook in
uCertify) about how one company’s back room is another company’s front
room pertains to outsourcing. Use an example.
Summarize the management advantages, cost reduction, and risk
reduction of outsourcing.
Summarize the outsourcing risks concerning control, long-term costs,
and exit strategy.
Discuss which company you would outsource to and why. Does distance matter?

Your case study must be at least two pages in length (not counting the
title and reference pages), and you must use at least two references
