When encouraging and helping a subordinate
organizational member progress professionally, how much effort should
you invest in any one person? How much effort and mentoring is
appropriate, and when are a manager's efforts too much?

When the situation is stressed or critical, how much
should a manager change in the manager's usual leadership approach to
exercise situational leadership? What parts of a leadership style
should a leader not be flexible on?

Are you motivated to succeed in business? It is time to develop a mini
business plan! Prepare a 15-slide PowerPoint presentation. The
PowerPoint presentation will be a business venture you want to launch.
You can use the information in the required readings and information
from other reliable sources. You may use the slide notes function to
explain slide contents, if necessary.

Describe what you want to do (this is a strategic plan) (five slides).

Identify the goal.
Explain why the opportunity is promising.
Make an estimate about how long you think this will take.
Make a statement about the advantages of your business and the desire
to pursue it (vision/mission statement).
Distinguish strategic planning from other managerial actions within
your strategic plan.

Describe why you will be successful (three slides).

Describe your past performance (company history, if any, what you have
done and are doing).
Explain the tools or services available (investors? services? local
association?).

Describe what you need in order to do this (three slides).

Estimate the necessary capital.
Estimate the necessary staff (organization chart); include why the
staff you designated will best fit the plan.
Describe necessary approvals/licenses.

Describe the products and services you plan to offer (one slide).
Identify management (three slides).

Are you the manager (other owners/officers, board members,
consultants, or attorneys)? Describe why these choices best fit the
plan.

You are required to use at least one outside source to support your
PowerPoint presentation.

Evaluate the role of strategic planning within the decisions you will
be making for the company.

In evaluating personality types and cognitive styles, which
types/styles do you consider important for identifying with
personality differences among people? Why?

Recall the model for improving interpersonal skills and the major
personality factors and traits from the unit readings. A goal has been
identified for a particular employee: become front-line manager in six
months. The employee has met the demands for duties and
responsibilities with no reprimands nor sanctions for performance, and
the employee is continuing mentoring and shadowing efforts with
another seasoned front-line manager. However, there is a need to
further assess the employee's performance. The employee is identified
with the self-monitoring personality factor (low).

Discuss the pros and cons of possessing this self-monitoring
personality factor. Identify how the performance of the employee can
be improved and properly assessed.

Locate an article (attached) that addresses one of the following best
practices tied to management: planning, organization, staffing, or
directing.

After reading the article and briefly summarizing the purpose for the
article, answer the following questions:

What is the main point?
Who is the intended audience?
Do the arguments within the article support the main point?
What evidence supports the main point?
What is your opinion of the article? Do you agree with the findings?

Your article review submission must be at least one page in length.
The article review should be formatted in accordance with APA style.

This first course assignment has you demonstrate the applications of
the important components dealing with business management. In this
assignment, explain the importance of planning, organization,
staffing, directing, and controlling for effective business
management. Share your own experiences tied to management skills,
principles, and strategies you have implemented that have or have not
worked in your past or current careers. If you do not have any
experience tied to management skills, address what you like to see in
managers who you have worked for in the past. Your essay submission
must be at least two pages in length. You are required to use at least
one outside source to support your explanation.

Your essay response should be formatted in accordance with APA style.

Leaders in organizations commonly supervise a number of subordinates
who may also be referred to as their followers. Using the CSU Online
Library, explore topics associated with leadership behavior,
followership behavior, and how followers are affected by leadership.
Then, select a company that is of interest to you, and respond to the
following questions/topics.

Briefly describe your chosen company. Identify potential problems or
issues (current or future) that your company might address if
followers do not respectfully adhere to the demands of their leaders.
Explain how followers can influence the behavior of leaders.
Analyze how different types of leadership styles can affect the
motivations, behaviors, and performances of followers.
What might this company do in the future to improve leadership
training methods and performance measures for all workers? Include
your rationale.

Your APA-formatted response must be a minimum of two pages in length
(not including the title page and the references page) and must
include an introduction, a thesis statement (concise summary of the
main point of the paper), and a clear discussion of the topics above.
Your response must include a minimum of two credible references. All
sources used must be referenced; paraphrased and quoted material must
have accompanying citations.

In Unit VII, the comprehensive report was presented to the Fig
Technologies Executive Leadership Council (ELC). You have the option
to create a video OR PowerPoint presentation that summarizes your
findings based on the comprehensive report. In the presentation of
your findings, be sure to describe advances in organizational
diversity developed from legislation, and explain paradigm shifts in
the Fig Technologies organizational environment from increased
diversity legislation. Include citations and references from at least
three sources used in your presentation (these may be from the earlier
components).

The video option should be three to five minutes in length, using a
YouTube channel or equivalent. Include charts or graphics as necessary
to effectively present your findings. If choosing this option, upload
a document with the link to your video and a transcript of your video.
The document should also include a reference list and citations.

While sources and information from previous assignments are
appropriate sources to inform and guide the development of the video
or PowerPoint, this assignment requires original content that
demonstrates mastery and understanding of the course material. Do not
simply copy and paste any portions from previous assignments.

The PowerPoint option should consist of a 10-12 slide presentation
(not including the title and reference slides) with proper APA
formatting. Include charts or graphics as necessary to effectively
present your findings

Instructions

Write a research paper that analyzes methods used to ethically manage
teams and groups within organizations. In your research paper, be sure
to include the following elements:

Distinguish between a group and a team.
Discuss ethical decision-making in team leadership that promotes
social responsibility.
Discuss leadership styles and traits that are effective for successful
management of groups and teams.
Include a discussion on any aspect of leadership covered in the course
that was of particular interest to you. All topics do not need to be
included; yet, followship, ethics, leadership styles, multicultural
leadership, and conflicts of interest are all topics that have been
studied, and any one (or more) that you found particularly interesting
could be incorporated into the discussion.

Your research paper should be a minimum of three pages in length, not
including the title and references pages. Utilize the CSU Online
Library to locate a minimum of three sources (attached) to use as
references that support your research paper. You may use another that
you may find during research. All sources used must be cited and
referenced according to APA guidelines.

Be sure to include the rubric elements from the guidelines below.

Your introduction should engage the reader and clearly present the
thesis and a summary of the main points to clarify your point of view.
The review of the literature should present a critical analysis and
synthesis of the existing research.
The discussion should reveal insightful analysis of research.
A summary should be present that reviews or summarizes key points and
provides a smooth transition between sections.
The writing should be clear and concise with proper sentence
structure, grammar, and punctuation, and it should be free from
spelling errors.
The number of academically credible sources should meet the
requirements and should be properly cited, per APA standards
