Step 1

Choose a specific grade level that you are either currently teaching or plan to teach. You can also choose to focus on one of the grade-level profiles from the Backward Design Stage media pieces.

Step 2

In a 2-3 page paper, complete the following, providing specific details relevant to your chosen grade level.

• Evaluate the information needed, including specific details, to create a personalized learning profile.
• Determine how you would gather information needed for a PLP and how you would access those sources.
• Assess the learning needs that might come from the PLP.
• Analyze how the PLP differs from an IEP.

This week, you explored four types of awareness: emotional awareness, physical awareness, cognitive awareness (metacognition), and social awareness. These four types of awareness precede autonomy, mastery, purpose, and intrinsic motivation. For this discussion, please respond to the following:

• What you might observe when a student has developed each of the four aspects of awareness? Provide an example.

For this week's discussion, use this week's readings (the Forum Guide to Personalized Learning Data and the Personalized Learning Plans (PLP) Process Manual) and last week's resources on developing Individual Learning Plans. Then respond to the following:

• Compare an Individualized Education Plan to a Personalized Learning Profile. What are the differences? How are they similar?

Think about your own learning environment and self-assess where you are with transforming teaching and learning in a personalized way. In your discussion, ensure that you-at a minimum-address the question:

• What do you know about personalized learning and what challenges do you face or anticipate in regard to personalized learning?

1. Develop a learner-centered activity using teaching methods for distance learning to promote group discussion.
2. Summarize how distance learning teaching methods can support the four activities of reciprocal teaching in a remote setting, providing descriptive examples for each.
3. Develop a set of five culturally responsive questions that promote student collaboration through both oral and written expression, encompassing a range of cognitive levels to accommodate diverse learners.
4. Develop an assessment method that effectively measures student performance and engagement, incorporating strategies to gauge and evaluate student collaboration.
5. Describe how a specific learning theory can be applied to effectively determine the learning needs of students.
6. Cite 2 to 3 credible, relevant, appropriate sources, other than your textbook, to support your claims.
