  • • Recognize the practical implications of your chosen topic area and explore how and why they may present challenges to an organization.
  • • Do not simply describe the topic but explore the challenges presented by this issue (or issues) as well as their potential consequences and how they might be managed in a work environment.
  • • The use of work-based examples is an absolute requirement in answering this question.

Employee Relations Strategy ...

Q1: Using a range of work-based examples, critically determine the purpose of an effective employee relations strategy. (Learning Outcome 1)

  • • Using Social Exchange Theory (see for example Homans 1961; Blau 1964) as your baseline frame of reference, address both individual and group/team mechanisms that might be used by an organization in constructing and engaging an effective employee relations strategy.
  • • Simply providing a range of advantages and/or disadvantages is unlikely to evidence any depth of understanding on the subject. You must critically examine why and how a variety of approaches (probably not more than three or four) might be used.
  • • It is extremely important to provide specific work-based examples from a range of culturally diverse sources to facilitate this discussion. You will be expected to include a minimum of four (4) examples.
